Fiqh of Divorce by Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam
By Mufti Muhammad Ibn Adam al-Kawthari
Divorce is a very delicate matter in Islam, so much so that even without realising it, many Muslim couples divorce each other simply due to words said either in jest or seriousness. The unfortunate consequence is that couples may find themselves in a situation which they are unable to redeem.
The only remedy to this is to study the Fiqh of Divorce. Understanding these laws is a necessity for every Muslim so that they may avoid divorce and also advise others when such situations occur.
Referring back to classical texts, this course will cover the following topics:
* the ruling and reality of divorce in Islam
* when one may or may not divorce
* different types of divorce
* revoking a divorce
* the issue of giving three divorces
* words used in a divorce
* verbal and written divorce
* forced into divorcing
* rules relating to conditional divorce
* what a wife can do if the husband refuses to divorce her
* ruling of a legal divorce
* rules of the waiting period (iddah) and marring another man (halala)
* custody of children after divorce
*and much more.
